Coast Guard Cutter Midgett Seahawks NFL Playoffs Shoutout

Story and video by Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Shearer

Crew members assigned to Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, a 378-foot high endurance cutter homeported in Seattle, wish the National Football League Seattle Seahawks good luck during the 2015 National Football Conference Championship game aboard the cutter at Coast Guard Base Seattle, Jan. 12, 2015.

Midgett has been homeported in Seattle for more than two decades and many of the cutter’s nearly 200 crew members are Seahawks fans. The crew is headed south to participate in Tailored Ship’s Training Availability.

The Seahawks adopted U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Northwest as their military service for the year Sept. 9, 2014, and the flag has been traveling with Coast Guardsmen conducting frontline operations to raise public awareness of the service and its missions.
